Is everyone here aware that this is unofficially 'House 3' ?

Just asking, and even though I love 'HOUSE' I really like this movie too as a stand alone horror movie, cause it should not have the 'House' namesake attached.

What do you mean you know it is House 3?

Here at IMDB it says it has the House name atached in the UK and Australia.

Here in the US its only under "The Horror Show".....plus there are a few things that also dis-connect it from the House series...like.....the plot is not about a haunted house and theres a scene when the killer trys to get him at the police station, which does not take place in the house.

"Your Pissing me off Roger" Big Ben (HOUSE)
"Don't *beep* with the Chuck!" Chucky (Child's Play 3)

I assuming he means that he knows it is House 3... as in the third of the house series. That makes the most logical sense, no?

reply

OH...I see what you mean...I was just saying that its not really a "House" movie and for some reason those other countries dubbed it "House 3".

Yeah, it was all for marketing purposes, because House and House 2 were somewhat succesful, so they wanted to milk the fame from those two flicks and probably thought "hey, this movie has a killer, and a house, let's call it House 3 and market it as a sequel so we can make lots and lots of money!!" - But alas, it did not make a lot of money, but the prescence of both Lance Henriksen and Brion James helped it become a somewhat popular movie in certain places.

The "funniest" thing is, when the guys who made House 1 and 2 wanted to make a third installment, they had to call it House 4 because of this, lol.

Yeah I know they named the actual 3rd movie House 4....but besides all the "House" stuff(which I LOVE House, one of my all time fave movies).....I really enjoyed this movie...defeintly one of the coolest horror movies IMO.

Well heres a post from someone over at the "House 4" board...guess it was originally meant to be "House 3"...heres the qoute...

"I read in a 'Creature Features' book that the working title was "House III" and Sean Cunningham changed the title at the last minute to "The Horror Show" to market it as a standalone film that would spawn it's own sequels. When it failed at the Box Office, it was changed back to it's original title "House III" overseas."

Hm, I didn't know that fact! But if it was intended as a sequel to House II, then how come there's nothing that indicates it in the movie? I mean, Max Jenke was quite a charismatic character, and surely could've stood alone as the bad guy in his own franchise I think..

Thanks for posting that info, good to know! :)

Well the turkey coming alive at the dinner table was very much in the style of "House"...but your right, other than that not much can be reconized as being part of the "House" series.

House 4 was too tv made without any seriousness. They killed Roger off. What happened to Jimmy and his wife from the first one? House 4 was a poor attempt even to call it House 3 too. They should make a true third film.
