'Mmm-hmm'

Love that scene between the cops and the Thompsons. I wish I could remember everything, but I mostly remembering the cop going "mm-hmm" to Mr. Thompson, which really pissed him off, and then the cop later said "mm-hmm" again to him, and I thought Mr. Thompson was gonna so insane. It cracked me up when I was younger, and cracked me up a few months ago when I watched it.

Anyone know how the whole scene goes? It totally belongs in the memorable quotes section.

I can think of a few random lines, but I mostly remember:

Russ: Don't you ever say anything!?!?!
Cop: Mmm-hmm.

lol! Its something that always made me laugh growing up watching this.

lol. I remember Russ closing his eyes and breathing hard after the cop says "Mmm-hmm" the second time, and Russ has trouble breathing cause he's so ticked, and then he finally says something like "WHY....do *I* feel like I'm the one on trail here!?!?!?"

I recall my sister, myself, and my cousin always loved that scene as kids, and we often played "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" and we would always do that very scene I'm talking about with my sis playing Mrs. Thompson, my cousin being the cop, and me playing Russ. It was good times. My cousin also loved that "Mmm-hmm" line and said it all the time even when we were not acting out scenes.

Big Russ: Well instead of flapping your gums about it, why can't you...

Female Cop: I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. This sort of thing happens all the time. You have a little spat with the kids...

Big Russ: Whoa! We did NOT have a spat.

Mae: You were pretty upset about Russ quitting the team.

Big Russ: Quit?! I thought he was cut.

Mae: He was afraid to tell you he quit.

Big Russ: (hysterically) What do you mean he was afraid to tell me?! He can tell me anything he wants! You know I always listen!

Male Cop: Mmm-hmm!

Big Russ: What's "uh-huh" supposed to mean?

Mae: Russell.

Big Russ: (under his breath) I don't like the way he said it!

Female Cop: No need to get upset, Mr. Thompson. It's not unusual for these runaways...

Big Russ: Whoa! My kids did not run away! They are happy kids, and there's no way on earth you're gonna make me believe that they ran away! (Male Cop takes notes) There he goes with his writing again. (to Male Cop) Don't you ever say anything?

Male Cop: Mmm-hmm!

(Big Russ sighs)

Mae: Russell!

Big Russ: Why do I feel like I'M the one on trial here?

Mae: Can't imagine, dear.

Big Russ: What do you mean you can't imagine?

Female Cop: Well, I think we have enough to get started. Please give us a call if you hear from the boys.

(cops leave)

Big Russ: (after cops leave) Don't they need a warrant or something?

Mae: Russell, there's a few things about yourself I think you should know.

Big Russ: Oh? Like what?

(Mae talks as they walk away)

Yeah, I watched this movie WAY too much as a kid. But it was worth it.

You're welcome! You can tell I've seen the movie one too many times, can't you? Not that I feel guilty about it.
