Only in 1989...today a Family Movie made by Disney would never include a character that smokes.

Not just family movies. Disney doesn't want smoking in any of their shows, too. Four years ago, there was a TV drama, Pan Am, on ABC (owned by Disney) about the so-called Jet Age. The show took place in the early '60s, but you'd never know it, because everything was sanitized. In those days, people smoked everywhere, including on airplanes, and yet not a single person was seen lighting up.

True, different times. I suppose there's quite a lot of things that would be perfectly fine to have shown in a film 30 or 40 years ago, but would be completely unacceptable today.
