James Horner's score...?

Is almost lifted directly from Dave Grusin's score in The Goonies. Not all of the themes, but the adventure theme played often during the backyard scenes is right out of the Goonies, almost same instruments, same patterns, very very similar chord progressions.

I know what you mean. The music when they discover the cookie is a lot like the music in the beginning of "The Goonies", as well as the pipe scene.

The goonies theme is very close to the third movement of Rachmaninoff's third piano concerto.

The adventure theme you refer to in HISTK is a harmonic and rhythmic take on Raymond Scott's Powerhouse. Some of it is actually note for note. Give a listen.

Just got to the first yard scene. That's definitely goonies rhythms and melody. Weird.

reply

It's still Rachmaninov's.

Not to mention he completely ripped off Raymond Scott's 'Powerhouse' without credit, eventually settling out of court.
