St. Crispin's day Speech

Almost brings me tears every time. It has nothing to do with the battle. It is a speech that transcends time and comes into our daily lives, with everything we have to deal with. Thank you Shakespeare.

My son isn't a big fan of Shakespeare but he loves History and loves this speech. He memorized it in high school. He also says if a teacher ever wants some Shakespeare memorized he'll pull that out.

It does kind of transcend the film. Movies from Return of the King to Independence Day have been echoed it when the time comes to rally the troops.

It is not our abilities that show who we truly are...it is our choices

I agree totally. This has to be one of the most rousing speeches in the history of English literature and Branagh performed it magnificently. I watched this film last night for the first time in 25 years and that speech really sends a shiver up the spine when performed so well. My wife was close to tears at the end of it.

This means something, this is important.

A speech to inspire soldiers, going into combat and facing death can be all the difference in the world when it comes to shredding the traffic on the way to the mall.

As a combat veteran all I have to say is:

It is part of English literature and folklore. It comes in handy if you ever have to walk 40 miles for charity. Or even better if you have to walk 55 miles. If you sing as you walk, you can't feel the blisters in your feet.
