The name Calhoune is from Scottish origin (originally Colquhoun). The name Kirkpatrick (the Irish boxer) is a "sept" of the clan Colquhoun as is Walker (Vera tells Calhoune her name is Vera Walker towards the end of the movie). I always wondered if Eddie Murphy wrote those names in by accident or if he knew the connection.

I doubt he knew. I doubt a lot of people would know. I didn't know.
