The one Oscar Worthy Element of this film...

...would definitely be the costumes. I think the costumes in this film are absolutely breathtaking and should have gotten an Oscar nod? Anyone agree?

I think Richard Pryor deserved at least a nomination for the scene where he tells Quick about it aint cool to die at 27. Watching that scene you can believe that Ray is Quick's father and he is trying to protect him. It looked like Ray wanted to cry in that scene. I could almost feel the emotion of that scene. To me, thats good acting when it comes through the screen and makes you feel it and put yourself in that position.

Richard Pryor was just one of those rare talents that come along every blue moon. Like my Mom used to say: "Richard Pryor was a great comedian, and an even better actor"....

reply

Absolutely. That was indeed a great scene.

And, to the OP, yes, the wardrobe was fabulous. The very last scene, with Pryor, Murphy and Foxx standing in front of their Rolls Royce, was utterly sumptuous.
