Wait, so Michael Myers slept in that old man's bed for a year
And then he killed him?
shareYes. Originally it was supposed to be someone connected to the Cult of Thorn, he was even supposed to paint the tattoo on him or something but that ended up being scrapped and they went with this. Even they admit it was a little odd, but it was just a bridge to get to the action point, his awakening.

This movie made no sense.
shareWell, some of it made sense. Michael touching Jamie temporarily passed his evil to her, made her mute like he was, just not full on evil. It also established a psychic link, which allowed Loomis and Jamie to track him. Too bad it worked both ways. The Man in Black was a nice touch, but completely trashed in 6 bu other writers. Rachel's death, Tina's sacrifice, finally the Myers house, despite it's look, all made sense. Now the characters weren't likable aside from a few, Meeker, Loomis, Jamie, Rachel, but that doesn't mean it didn't make sense.

i must admit when i was young, The Man in Black storyline of this movie was exciting. i couldn't believe the ending. seeing this strange person, unafraid of michael, bust him out of jail made me pretty excited to see part 6
shareThe man in black was originally suppose to be Michael's "twin" brother 👎
shareYeah I found that baffling.
The old man didnt seem to even care.
That's because of last minute script changes. Originally it was supposed to be a cult member who painted the Thorn symbol on Michael, but they scrapped that. So they went with the hermit. Being a hermit, he's probably used to people being alone and minding their own business. Another casualty of the less than a year gap between films rush to production. As for the twin brother, that would've been stupid. Laurie and Loomis would've known that detail, esp. after 2. I'm glad they didn't go with that.

Yeah... there's, really not alot about this movie that makes sense. It was nice of them to try an expand on the mythology by having Michael portrayed as more human, and creating the psychic link with Jaime... but then they kind of forgot to give the movie an ending where it all comes together and gave us a bizarre cliffhanger. Also, this was the 80's so... I expect "Cocaine" can probly be used to explain most of the dumb ass decisions.
