Did Billy die

Probably not as the only child he really went after was Jamie. It's up to audience interpretation, but according to the audio commentary, the actor who played Billy seemed to think his character lived. Never saw his body, so anything's possible.

I'm amazed Meeker felt for that trick, knowing Michael would stop at nothing to get Jamie.

I came here to ask this question too. I've seen this film several times, and never could figure out whether Billy lived or not.

It appeared he did, since they never show his body. But the film still feels heavily edited, so....?

I think that if they had killed him off, they would've mentioned it, just to benefit from the shock factor of having a child being murdered. Then again, maybe they just forgot to film it, or maybe the completed death scene was so poorly filmed they had to remove it. It's hard to speculate seeing as how the movie is such a rushed mess. Although I did like some of the new elements of mystery they added (such as Myer's becoming found of Tina and recoiling at being touched by Jaime), but then they never really did anything with that and just ended the movie with an old crippled man beating an unstoppable force of nature with a wooden plank.

Billy lives, the actor claims he was supposed to appear in the scene where they evacuate the children's hospital.

When there's no more room in Hollywood, remakes shall walk the Earth.

I hope so.
