Worse and worse every time I watch it...

This is the movie with a guy in a shack who keeps a comatose body in the same bed for one whole year. This is the movie with the most irritating cast of all, from annoying Tina to her friends who act like fools throughout. And Jamie, reduced to having spaz attacks every five minutes. This is the movie with comedy sidekick police officers accompanied by their own silly gag theme. This is the movie that turned the Myers House into the Myers Mansion. This is the movie with "cookie woman" as a serious plot point! This is the movie that gave us a hokey psychic connection between Jamie and Michael Myers. This is the movie that has Michael Myers hiding in a tree. This is the movie that has Michael Myers driving all over the place in a car. This is the movie that has Dr. Loomis set Looney Tune traps in the Myers Mansion which succeeds in capturing Michael Myers. This is the movie with a mysterious man in black walking around observing everything for no reason. This is Donald Pleasance's worst performance as Dr. Loomis. This movie has the cheesiest dialogue, all from Dr. Loomis of course. The plot goes absolutely nowhere. Why did they rush this out with no good story to tell? Why kill off Rachel for no reason? So we can have plenty of Tina? Why are we supposed to care about Tina again?

Yet, as bad as it is, I always seem to end up watching it every Halloween! It gets worse and worse, yet I keep on coming back for more! Halloween 6 gets a bad rap, but this film is far worse. Yet here I sit, watching it!

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

reply

Yep, terrible film. Watching it on AMC right now.

Easily one of the worst Halloween films.

Yet here we sit watching it!

1st world problems.

reply

Agreed, but Curse is just as bad. In fact it is starting now on AMC.

reply

Like I said in one of my previous posts, they should have stopped at II. I know that was John Carpenters intention, and that he had nothing to do with 4 or 5. Thank god

reply

Well, Carpenter's real intention was to make a Halloween anthology, but the studio wanted a Myers sequel. Carpenter gave them what they wanted, and purposely killed off Myers and Loomis for good so that he could get on with his anthology. Unfortunately, by doing what the studio asked, Carpenter sabotaged his own idea for an anthology series centered on the Halloween holiday as now people were expecting it to be all about Michael Myers. Funny enough, burning Loomis and Michael to a crisp didn't stop Moustapha Akkad from bringing them both back for more sequels!

As for the other comment about Halloween 6, I watched it too. It is the odd TV hybrid cut that has more footage than the awful theatrical cut. I will say this, though...Halloween 6 is actually a technically better filmed movie with better atmosphere, more interesting characters (at least somewhat), and overall more creepy and effective. As far as the story, yes, it is terrible. Halloween V has no plot and is just a random series of events that adds nothing to the overall story, while Halloween 6 is crammed with way too much plot to the point of overkill and ultimate nonsense.

reply

Carpenter's intention was to originally stop at 1.

'Then' and 'than' are different words - stop confusing them.

reply

Agree - this is crap.

Sadly... somehow... someway... 'Curse' (both versions) is even worse.

Wait a minute... who am I here?

reply

No surprise part 5 only grossed $11 million

reply

I use to somewhat enjoy this flick in my younger years. But the more i watch it, the more i hate it. It may be the dumbest film in the franchise with dumb characters, dumb humor, lame kills, and a ridiculously lazy plot.

reply

Yeah but that being said, it was/is MUCH watchable/enjoyable watever Rob Zombie did with the series with his versions of the first two. ī€µ

Yeah it definitely has the most ā€œ80sā€ feel to all the ones from that decade.
