Name of the med school?

What was the name of the med school that accepted Joe Slovak? His MCAT score (26) seemed to be rather average, and not good not enough to a more prestigious school...

reply

Who cares? You know what you call the person who graduates at the bottom of his class at the most non-prestigous medical school in the world?

Doctor. The same thing they call the person who graduates at the top of the class at the MOST prestigous medical school.

reply

That's not the point, I just doubt that he'd get accepted into a prestigeous med school with MCAT score of 26 and on a sole notion that he wants to make money, unless he was smoking dope together with the interviewer. But anyways, it's a movie, so I suppose script doesn't have to be accurate.

reply

You have to move you mind into movie-world. Dr. Hunter mentions that Joe scored extremely well on his entrance exams, even though his undergraduate grades weren't the best - and it wasn't a top-notch school at that.

So in this "movie-world" his MCAT 26 was a very high score.

reply

I think thats just poor background research on the part of the screenplay writers. At no time in history was an MCAT score of 26 considered good. Its very mediocre. You can get accepted with that score, but you'd better have very good college grades, outstanding extracurriculars, good interview, and good letters of recommendation on your behalf.

They also hinted it's not Harvard!!

What is the song playing in Joe's car while he is driving the pregnant student that is about to have her baby to the resturaunt.

reply

26 was his age not his score.

reply

haha, if med school works out for me this year (got an interview next week) I will be 26 upon enrollment!

Unless they made a mistake and his results were 36...

reply

lol who cares? it's a movie. use your imagination.

In the movie, "Chandler University College of Medicine" was engraved on the door of the Doheney Library at USC.

The movie was filmed at USC.

reply

As someone stated above, 26 is his age, not his score. The interviewer says, "Good MCAT score. 26...not fresh out of college, that's good."

Were you there too?

reply

Does the name of the school matter? In the scene in Dr Woodruff's office with Woodruff and Slovak the Dr (aka Lahti) suggests that the med school is not on the top ten list. However, as a first year med student the rigors are still the same.
