Drew Barrymore.

According to the trivia, Drew Barrymore was considered for the role of Myra. As much as I love Winona Ryder and her quirkiness, but it would have been interesting for Drew to play that role because at the time Drew was well known for transforming herself as a trashy, trampy jailbait for a number of roles back in the late '80s/early '90s (i.e. Poison Ivy) and her playing Myra would have been more jaw dropping than Winona's portrayal.

But MYRA wasn't portrayed as trashy or trampy in this movie.

I think the OP meant that Drew's image as a provocative jailbait in her teen years in such movies like Far From Home and Poison Ivy is something that makes her a perfect fit for her to play Myra in the movie because Drew was too (shockingly) mature for her age where she often plays young teen girls who are innocent, yet controversially seductive and sexual. She was 13 when she made Far From Home and she looked and acted like a 19 year old because she was oversexualized in the movie (which is considered a BIG no-no by today's standard).

reply

Yeah, I got it, but I still don't think MYRA fits that description.

reply

Myra was jailbait. It's that type of description that fitted Drew's controversial image as a teen actress during her teen years. The OP only used the words trashy and trampy to described Drew's then teenage provocativeness, not Myra. Get it?

JERRY LEE was attracted to MYRA because he didn't see her as a child... but I'm pretty sure he was the only one.
