Bill Murray Was Reluctant to Do Ghostbusters 2

"I was very, very reluctant to do it," he told Collider. "I probably thought that the only reason anyone would want another one was just to make money," he added. Ultimately, Murray was convinced to sign on after he met with the cast and creative team. "I don't know if Ivan set it up, but they got us all back together in a room, and really, we hadn't been together in a room since the movie came out and it was just really, really fun to be together," he said.

Murray agreed to the sequel after hearing the film's pitch. However, he quickly became reluctant again once they started filming. "They got us all together and they pitched a story idea that was really great. I thought, 'Holy cow, we could make that work,'" Murray said. "It ended up not being the story they wrote. They got us in the sequel under false pretenses. Harold had this great idea, but by the time we got to shooting it, I showed up on set and went, 'What the hell is this? What is this thing?' But we were already shooting it, so we had to figure out how to make it work."

The original Ghostbusters is Murray's preferred in the franchise. People in New York City believed that the Ghostbusters were legitimate professionals during its filming, according to Murray. "When we drove that car through red lights and one-way streets, it just looked like we were in charge of the situation," he said. "It was a lot of fun, that first one. We didn't get away with that much on the second one."

Ghostbusters 2 was not the last time Murray had to be convinced to come aboard for a film. Space Jam director Joe Pytka recently revealed that Murray's role in the film was intended to be a quick cameo, which basketball legend Michael Jordan had to "beg" him to do. Once Murray shot his scene, however, he asked Ghostbusters director and Space Jam producer Ivan Reitman if he could appear in the final climactic scene, during which Murray assisted Jordan with the winning dunk.

Doesn't mention his trade. As I heard it, he only agreed to do Ghostbusters II if they would give him the lead in Razor's Edge.

I think Murray did Razor's Edge around the same time as the original Ghostbusters.

The only bad part of GB2 is the recycled Dana story, the villains' good, going out of business is good because it gives us the ghostbusters on trial, the slime is cool. I wonder if Murray has seen the film more than once, maybe he's going off of old reviews.

Ghostbusters 2 is almost as good as the first one.
