Was Jack Hardemeyer lying to the Psychiatrist that the mayor wants them kept under strict supervision for a few days?

During the scene where Jack sends the Ghostbusters to an insane asylum was he lying to the Psychiatrist about the mayor wanting them kept under strict supervision for the next few days?

reply

yes he was

Plus you can see he was very happy about seeing the Ghostbusters' being sent to the insane asylum.

He was either exaggerating the mayors instructions, or he just misunderstood them. The Mayor didn't believe the Ghostbusters and wanted them shut up and stay out of sight. It was Jack's job to do that, and since the guys were openly talking about going to the press, he had to take drastic action to stop them. So he told the Dr. that the guys were a danger to the community and themselves and need to be institutionalized.

Or the Mayor simply didn't care what the Ghostbusters told the press, he just wanted them out of the Gracie Mansion. He probably figured they would be proven wrong, exposed as frauds and would go away. Jack thought he wanted them silenced and committed them.

It's like the Mayor had conflicting opinions towards the Ghostbusters', Jack thought he was doing the mayor a favor by keeping the Ghostbusters' away from him and then the Mayor throws Jack under the rug when he confesses that he sent the Ghostbusters' to the Park View Hospital, I know Jack did have deep hatred towards the Ghostbusters'.

I don't think the Mayor had any intention to send the guys to the hospital. He just wanted them gone. It was Jack's idea, in my opinion, to commit them so they wouldn't talk to the press.

In a sequel comic, Jack ends up becoming a homeless person.
