scary for me, for some reason

Does this movie scare anyone else besides me? I remember, as a child, I saw this movie and it gave me nightmares. The second time, I was in high school, and still gave me nightmares. The third time, was three years ago, and still got nightmares. The movie, shouldn't be, that scary, cause a lot of people quote it as a funny movie. But me, even if I don't watch it, still get nightmares from it.

I would say, the scary parts for me are: the river of slime as it covers the museum, Viggo the painting, the flying ghosts in the courtroom, the Titanic ghost ship, the heads on pikes scene and the slime in the tub.

I always found this movie more frightening than the first. Kind of feels more like a genuine Horror movie at times than the first one did. The heads on the stakes bit especially, that always sent me running out of the room when I was small.

lol you actually took obvious troll seriously?

It's definitely a lot darker than the first one if you ask me.

Yes, I always felt that in it's darker moments, GB2 felt darking and more full of dread then the first one. Love it though!

I still remember Janosz' eyes lighting up and that amazing score booming through the theater speakers and becoming forever freaked out by beams of light in the dark. GB2 has a few very scary moments, which I absolutely love, and they make the movie so much better.

When they make the Ghostbusters re boot movie with four women as the Ghostbusters characters, I hope that it will be darker and serious but sadly, it will end up being a dark comedy.

There is a scene when someone (Ray maybe) is developing photos by himself. The door locks, there is scary imagery in the photos, a fire breaks out . . .

Yeah, I found this disturbing.

Also when they are in the underground tunnel together and hear noises in the distance faintly.

Well done.

Well, when i was 9, the scariest thing for me was the bath tub. But for me the scary bits were the best things about the films! i didnt know what comedy was then. I found the cartoon scary too! I still see them as horror films. (ok i appreciate some of the humour) In the first film the library ghost sent me running out the room.

I honestly found the horror in this film to be more effective and frightening than the first film. And I think it's actually pretty darned creepy. It terrified me as a child, and some parts still make my skin crawl.

For me, a big part of it was Randy Edelman's score. While I honestly prefer Elmer Bernstein's music from the first film (it was more iconic and unique), I felt it was lacking in the creep-factor, whereas Edelman's score is downright terrifying when it needs to be.

For me, there were a few key scenes that really got under my skin in the past, and still do:
-Janosz visiting Dana's apartment, then having his eyes turn into flashlight-like beams as he leaves.
-The Bathtub monster.
-Vigo causing the photo-lab to catch fire.
-The entire subway sequence. The perfect lack of light, the creepy moment where Winston's voice does not echo and instead he is greeted by a dark voice calling to him, then the heads on the spikes.
-Janosz appearing as a "Nanny" with glowing red eyes, flying through the sky, and hyper-extending his arm to grab Oscar.

A lot of people have said this film seems more childish/cartoonish to them (and it obviously was inspired partially by the kid's cartoon series), but I honestly found it darker, scarier and more unsettling than the first.

And FURTHERMORE, this is my signature! SERIOUSLY! Did you think I was still talking about my point?

The film does feel scarier than the first, but for me personally it's never actually frightening, other than the tunnel sequence. It's honestly like something out of a nightmare, or even a horror video-game like 'Resident Evil' or 'Silent Hill'.
You're walking down a long, dark tunnel, an old train tunnel that hasn't been used in decades. And then you feel the tracks rumbling, you hear a train whistle, and suddenly a train comes shrieking at you, and passes right through you
And let's not even mention the heads on spikes

I love this movie so much. My mom used to run a daycare and this was one of the random movies we had on VHS. I've probably seen it like 12 times.

Very creepy indeed, Vego the carpathian's quotes are my favorite

"Time is but a window, death is but a doorway. I'll be back"

It never gave me nightmares as a kid. I always found both films to be more fun than scary. I found them eerie enough to be cool but not so much that I got really scared. The only dreams I ever have about the films are cool - e.g. last night dreaming there was a deleted scene from GB II where Janosz is making cup cakes for the arrival of Vigo!

This one scared me more than the first as well.

The first had a grittier atmosphere yes, but it never truly scared me. For some reason this one did.

The slime grabbing at Ray.
Vigo himself.
Janosch nanny grabbing Oscar.
The creepy subway noises and heads.
Etc.

Anyone remember the old vhs where they had that Coca-Cola commercial with the 2 boys being scared by their sister as she was covered in a facial mask and curlers?
