So who was Sigourney's baby daddy?

Did it ever say? Caught this on Tv tonight and wondered about it.

Presumably Peter. That was the original idea but was left out of the movie. Furthermore, the "stiff" from the first movie (hinted as being the ex-husband) seemingly did not fight for custody of oscar. I think Dana had an affair with Peter, the baby is his, Dana knows it but is concerned about Peters ability as a father. This is why she not only allows Peter to slide right in as father to Oscar but she never elaborated on what her marital problems were and why it made sense for the ex-husband to move out of the country.

Of course that's all a guess but it just makes sense to me

I think it's "The Stiff" (I bet), from the first movie, played by Timothy Carhart.

Something was mentioned (not by name) that a fellow musician Dana knew saw an opportunity in Europe and took it, pretty much passively acknowledging that he did his own thing. We can guess it was this guy, but I guess we'll never know, tho others have suggested it was indeed him in other threads.

reply

Yeah it was "The Stiff" from the first movie.  The guy snorting that stuff up his snooty nose. I give him a nickname "Snooty." 

If Oscar ever asked Dana questions about his father, she probably would have told him that he died because she probably wouldn't have known what else to do at the time and she probably wouldn't have wanted him to think that just because his father ditched them meant that he didn't love him which probably would have been a tough call and when Oscar was all grown up, Dana was gonna tell him the truth.

Louis Tully

If it was Louis the kid would be 5ish years old so no..it's not him.

Why is the movies explanation so hard to grasp for people? Peter and Dana's relationship was born out of trauma and was doomed to fail from day 1. Any hope of it working would have been killed by the Ghostbusters going out of business and all their legal troubles stressing Peter out to the point where being with him was miserable.

Then they reconnect and realized they missed each other. End of story.

She only has a baby to suit the story. Complex explanation not required. No secret dad.

reply

Probably the guy from the first movie

reply

I always assumed the daddy was a xenomorph.

reply

Where can I see THAT movie???

reply

She said she got married in the years since the first movie. The marriage didn't work out so they divorced. Her ex is no longer in the picture. (No pun intended)

reply

I assumed the dad came from the paranormal incident---no idea re how aging works that way. And explaining 'hey you now owe child support' to somebody who was also posesed by an ancient demon would be mutually awkward. I assume rather than trying to prove this (which yes Louis would believe) she decided to move on with her life and get it back together. She also did not tell Oscar re his past. Yes this would upset me.

The 'next' movie' which is what 2016 should have been Oscar dealing with being something who is from another dimension but not wanting that linneage--so he goes to the Ghostbusters for counseling. meanwhile he comes across Slimer who is dealing with being a ghost who hangs around the firehouse but is not really accepted by other humans or other ghosts. So Slimer and Oscar have to learn to adapt.

reply

No. The baby isn't from when she and Louis were possessed because Ghostbusters 2 takes place 5 years after the first. If it was from her and Louis the kid would be 4 years old. Not a baby.

reply

Time is irrelevant in Hollywood

look at all the kids who magically aged on TV shows after being born
Look at Mearth on Mork and Mindy who aged backwards

So the kid is a super-slow ager bc of who/what he is problem solved. made perfect sense to little kid me who saw 'weird aging tv shows' why not have a movie which broke the rules re aging too.

reply

You are flat out wrong. Dana said in the movie Oscar's father was a musician who left her and went to be in an Orchestra in London. Also, the movie itself says 5 years later at the very beginning so that tells you you are wrong.

reply

Wouldn't you lie if you had a kid conceived from a supernatural encounter? How would you explain this? It didn't show her collecting/needing to collect child support.

Dana would never be able to find a children's book to explain to him how he was actually made so she made something up off the top of her head.

They played around with everything else in these movies. So a child conceived from a chance mating of supernatural encounter still doesn't seem that absurd.

reply

Frankly you are the one who is wrong. The movie takes place 5 years after the first one and therefore the baby was born 4 and a half years after that event of the first film! I am through arguing!
