Has the picture degraded over time?

I got the DVD, and I don't remember it looking this faded, or sounding as faded as when I originally watched it when it was broadcast.

Could a restoration work for this movie, or is it a lost cause at this point?

The cheap DVD quality is awful. I wish they would re-release it PROPERLY instead of for quick sale. >:(

I watched the movie on Amazon Prime and it looked as lousy as you describe it. Faded like an old VHS second-generation dupe. Disappointing in appearance, but a lot of fun in content.
