This Can't Be A Sequel To The Original...

Wow...Fright Night is one of the all-time classic 80s vampire flicks...I can't believe in making a sequel this was the best they could come up with...I couldn't even get through this film; it was like I was in a weird Twilight Zone trance and when I came to all I could do was turn it off immediately! To this day I still haven't seen it in its entirety. This really was a piece of crap!

Dude the sequel was pretty good maybe you should give it another chance man!!

Dude I gave it all the chances I'm willing to give...it was a horrible movie and an even worse sequel...that's my final answer!

If you can't watch it all the way through, at least watch the last twenty minutes. The finale makes this movie worthwhile. Roddy MacDowell kicks ass.

Jerry's sister was awful, there was no humour and she was really dull, I assume they are soul related and not blood because they act and look nothing alike

you do realize that Renfield from Dracula ate bugs. And his girlfriend is a major upgrade to Darcy

I like the sequel better then the original.

I agree, the sequel is great. Julie Carmen is HOT!

Solid sequel! i was thoroughly impressed with the original, and this one was not bad at all. it revists alot of the same aspects of the original, but the climax is good, special effects are solid, and it still has alot of pretty damn funny moments like the original. it also takes a little whille to really get going, but the first one is like that too. one argument is that they could've taken a different direction since all the vampire stuff was already established in the first and just dive into it in the begining of this one, but what do i know? ;)

i just wish they could've given this franchise one more installment where they could've put it way over the top, but maybe its better to not have driven them into the ground like many other 80's horror movies.

in sequel terms, this is like a die hard 2 or ghostbusters 2....still quality but impossible to retain the magic of the first since the bar has been set so high.

Still, it deserves more than a 5.3 rating for sure!

Rollerskating vampires?! I'm sorry but even for the 80's that's just way too cheesy to be remotely scary... You can excuse the original the odd kitsch moment because it was parodying old movies and tv shows, but that's been done once, so the sequel needed to be a little less camp, not even more outlandish! Plus, the first movie had the presence of Chris Sarandon - a man who could even make stalking discotheques in casual knitwear seem seductive! - that this one sorely lacks, so there was no 'danger' in anything that happened, it just seemed silly.

Admittedly I only saw this once when I was 7, but by then already being a huge fan of the original I remember being disgusted. To me, there is no sequel to Fright Night, just a tacky spoof that doesn't deserve any appraisal whatsoever.

It's made from bits of real panther, so you know it's good...

Aren't you the dork praising every remake that ambles down the pike? You should have your index fingers revoked.

I may not know a lot, but I do know "a lot" is two words.

Umm...the second film is just as good if not better than the original.

They're virtually the same movie with names and places changed. Plot is still pretty straight forward: Vampires come to town, noone will believe you, kill them all.

Anyone that liked the original has no business badly reviewing the second since their virtually the same movie, and the supporting cast is quite a bit better than the original cast. I'd believe vampires exist before I'll believe Amanda Bearse in the role of a straight girl.

Whomever the dude is that started this comment thread...you're a moron.

Some people are blinded by the belief that a sequel is never good as the original. I would have to say in this case it is! Both are great.

Yeah I loved the first part but the sequel just takes the cake. It was awsome! And the rollerblading scene is a classic in my books!

I'm ruthless...with a smile on my face

reply

I like both movies, but you're nuts if you think the 2nd is better than the 1st in my opinion.

reply

So basically your premise is that it can't be a sequel because it's bad? Like no bad sequels have ever been made until this one? OK...

Anyway, just watched it for the first time a while, and thought it was OK, but the OG is a classic in my book.

reply

what is so bad about this movie? I think its got balls and its fun, you can't think of it as the sequel and its obviously not better then the original. I loved Louie he is also a werewolf in "The Monster Squad".

"My stepfather tried to rape me ... and he's a werewolf."

thats awesome!

I was very disappointed with this movie, it lacked the charm that the original had and the plot went almost no where. Seriously, Regina is Jerry's sister? Would have been nice if they touched that a little more and given her sidekicks some more personality. Hell they could have cut out the sidekicks, kept the Sister storyline and had the movie be about Peter and Alex trying to get Charley out of Regina's control.

I'm sorry but the movie barely broke mediocre and is no where near being better than the first one..

Incorrect and a sequal shouldn't be the same as the first one.
