Louie... A shape shifting vampire or full on werewolf?

He's a great character in this movie (Jonathan Gries is also rad as the wolfman in Monster Squad) but they def. portray him as a werewolf in the movie but there are a couple scenes that make you wonder. Your thoughts?

I think he was a shape shifting Vamp like Evil Ed in the first movie - Stephen Geoffrey's was asked to come back for part 2 but declined I wonder if Louie was originally his character?

I'd say werewolf. Different to the other vampires, like the bug eating henchman was different.

Other than quips like 'You're supposed to bite her on the neck,' he didn't really display any vampiric qualities. He was a werewolf.

He's a vamp. In the bowling alley scene, he's in vamp mode. I think he just prefers the wolf persona. He looked like a wolf in the human form, so why not?

Louie is a werewolf in Fright Night 2, and the werewolf design was created by FX artist Greg Cannom. There's a 4 page article in the August 1988 issue of Fangoria magazine (#76) about the different special FX used in Fright Night 2.

He's a vampire. Vampires in folklore could shapeshift into various forms, and wolves were among them. The roses Alex shoved into his maw, which hurt him, was something she picked up from reading Dracula -- and Dracula was a vampire, not a werewolf. Also, when Louis tries to get into Alex' pants, the bug-eating vampire tells him "you're supposed to bite her on the neck," to which Louis replies "I'm not thirsty."

amen

A vampire because the roses wouldn't have worked
