I think Rennie and her boyfriend just hallucinated that young Jason was lying there after the toxic waste destroyed him who knows

I think it was Renee's perception, remember she had images of young Jason throughout the film, plus the heroin could be a contributing factor

I actually think it's dumber to have the New York sewers filling up with toxic waste than said toxic waste turning Jason into a boy.

Damn, I love this movie :p
