fake?

How much of this film is fake footage? I don't necessarily believe all of the conspiracy theories but obviously some of this is not real, how does one tell what is real and what is not?

reply

None.

Just one shot, according to the trivia.

It looked mixed up a bit in the chronology,e.g. not every shot would be fro the mission documented at that time necessarily. And the image quality looks touched up perhaps and arguably not real in terms of what the world saw.

But I think it´s supposed to be all real footage.

That question has been a wet blanket all through the re-newed interest on the NASA space exploration of the Moon. I almost wish these conspiracy theorists would just shut up unless they can prove their assertions one hundred percent. I chose to assume we actually went there and back and none of the footage was faked.

that's the great thing about a conspiracy theory: you don't have to come up with any evidence or explanation yourself, yet you're allowed to denigrate the accomplishments of others just by exploiting the ambiguity involved in any situation/event.

My response:

I'd like to believe your statement about conspiracy theorists, unfortunately they often do come up with plausible conjecture. The governments silence with U.F.O.s and other phenomena doesn't help the situation.

Again, I'm assuming the accomplishment is real and we did go to the Moon and back. But it would be nice if we had a space program that actually made going back to the Moon a top priority and then we could lay to rest these conspiracy theories. Even putting a robotic rover on the surface would be a welcome compromise!

Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin of Apollo 11 fame sparked off the lunar laser ranging experiments in 1969 when they installed a corner-cube prism (or retro-reflector) array on the surface of the Moon. Later, Apollo 14 and 15 installed two more retro-reflectors on different areas of the Moon. The Russian missions Luna 17 and 21 also ‘parked’ retro-reflectors on the Moon as part of the unmanned Lunokhod rovers.

Proof enough for me:)

FYI: NASA is working on sending rovers to the poles of the moon and on long term robotic miners.

Looks pretty real to me! One friend keeps saying "Well, there's no STARS in any of the shots on the Moon". But, it's the same reason you can't see stars (usually) in daylight, the contrast is too high.

"One thing we know. You're no fake. You are a genuine idiot!"

If you put me on ignore, then how can I notify you when I win the lottery?

Depends what you mean by fake - some of the footage of separations and the TLI/TEI isn't actually Apollo moon shot footage, it's cobbled together from Gemini missions and from some unmanned test Apollo launches - they were very tight on weight and adding cameras just to get a shot of a stage separation or lunar burn would have been crazy when that weight allowance could have been used for more important things such as moon rocks
