I was just watching the extras on the DVD and they kept mentioning Mel Brooks. What does he have to do with the Fly ll?

It was Mel Brooks' production company (Brooksfilms) that produced the first film and its sequel.

Oh yeah? It was released by 20th Century Fox though, wasn't it?

Yeah, Fox distributed it, but it was produced by Brooksfilms. They also produced The Elephant Man.
