shocking low score....

I'm surprised how crazy low this films' rated. It's a respectable follow up to me & even better stand alone. In the vain of Halloween 2, Jaws 2, Childs plays 2. So what accounts for the abysmal score??

Man, rewatched this tonight for the first time in YEARS on my Starz App Channel, I saw the score and was definitely shocked as well. Granted, this is no Cronenberg film. It doesn't have the subtext and weird humor (It's more direct here) that made the original so great... BUT, it's absolutely a reasonable sequel and I expected to see something in the Mid to High 5's, especially considering it has developed a bit of a Cult Following over the years. I don't put it in the Halloween II category(One of my favorite sequels due to the aesthetics being similar enough with Dean Cundey still being the DP) and I'd say Jaws II falls a bit higher as well. I can admit that I've always been a bit Biased towards those series though. Halloween and Jaws are two of my favorite films PERIOD. Regardless, this is not a 4 rating type film. It has plenty of redeemable qualities(Score, Set Design, Gore/Creature Effects, Solid Directing/Acting)... Very surprised, no doubt about it.

I thought the remake was great, and this was even better. The antagonists in both films were great because I didn't see them as bad people, just misguided and put in situations that are completely abnormal. I though Scorby really made this an excellent movie. Definitely my favorite character, and the ending was ironic and well thought out.

I gave this a 9/10. I'll never understand such a low rating. I think part of it has to be those nostalgia people who can't see past the past. I enjoy the old films because I remember watching them on Saturday afternoons and the late movies, but it doesn't mean I'll dismiss the creativity behind a great remake or sequel.

Yeah, I hear ya. It's *definitely* not a 4.9

That's just way too low. To me, as far as IMDb ratings go, I'd say this should be at *least* a 6 or 6.5

*shrug* idk...

A lot of people hate on sequels, then when you get a movie like this that is actually just mediocre in and off itself it's a real double whammy and explains why it's nearing the 4s.
