Banned? Suspended?

I have not read the book in LONG time. Did the book say "banned" or "suspended"?

In the movie, he says they were suspended.

Suspended means it is temporary and you can return at a later time.
Banned means that you will NEVER be allowed back at all.

And I think the real Shoeless Joe was inncoent.
