POLL: do this film and DB deserve each other?

I'd like to know what everybody thinks here; I actually bought the DVD just for a couple of memorable swims by Miss Barrymore (one, fully clothed). Both Drew's performance and her character were endearing; producer Donald Borchers sure knew his stuff when he recruited her for three movies (the other two were DOPPELGANGER and MOTORAMA). But the rest of the film just didn't measure up to her, not altogether. I don't blame the cast, either; the script had great potential and Jonathan Elias' music was fine, but the director (who's much better known for music videos) was a square peg in a round hole with this genre.

For the record, MOTORAMA suffered from restricting Miss Barrymore to a glorified cameo; this may have been because she was still in rehab. (Poor Drew!)

Of course, all this is just my opinion; I could be wrong.

What do the rest of you think? Does this movie do as much for Drew as she does for it? More? Less? Let yourselves be heard...

I'm a huge fan of lurid, low budget thrillers and thought this was a fine one. I also loved Barrymore the most when she was a staple of this genre. Barrymore and the film complimented each other well IMHO.

For Connie n Raymond Marble, it was the beginning of the end!

I saw this on TV late last night for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it. I love bleak backwater killer-thriller films like this one.

Drew Barrymore took my breath away.

Agreed...films of this time period up to about '95 are my favorite from her. Same with Reese Witherspoon.

Personally, I think I have too much bloom. Maybe that's the trouble with me.
