Where's that hotel?
Hello. Can anyone tell me if the fancy resort hotel in this movie is really a resort? What's it's name and is it in the Seattle area?
Thanks!

Good question. I LIVE in Seattle and watched the movie last night for the first time and loved it..I recall when it came out, I must've been too young to appreciate it and the nuances. That hotel with the large baywindows overlooking the city LOOKS like it might be THE CLOUD ROOM, which up till recently actually was one of the few places in Seattle that still had a "Baker Boys-esque" Piano bar (Sorry Charlie's in Queen Anne was another, it's gone, and 13 Coins in Sea-Tac had one but they look to be going "Karaoke" I hear).
That final scene where there is a "Capitol HIll..." storefront doesn't look anything like Capital Hill the neighborhood, not surprising since the movie was filmed in 1989 and a LOT of development has occured in Seattle since then.
So, not much help, but I would like to know where some of the places were/are. Ever seen "Singles" ? also shot in Seattle, in 1992, I know every venue shot in that movie...
Thanks for the reply. I've never seen Singles - I'll look for it. I was in Seattle once, but over 20 years ago, I'm sure it's changed since then. Are a lot of movies shot there? I live in Cleveland, and it's fun to glimpse your city through the camera lens. "A Christmas Story" was shot here, partially, and "Telling Lies in America" and also "Light of Day" which I don't think anyone actually ever saw and also part of "The Deer Hunter." Whenever anyone needs that rust belt crumbling city look, they seem to come here, tho' we have a lot more going for us than crumbling rust!
