I never seen this movie until now. I bought it brand new for $5 at Hart`s (Which is basically a low-rent Wal-Mart). I watched it, it is truely a bizarre movie that cannot be taken seriously. It has some strong and campy moments mixed in together. The MGM DVD is supposed to be unrated, even it`s credited Rated R (Although like the recent Uncut Version like of "The Burning").

It`s certainly worth a look for Anthony Perkins bizarre, creepy and funny performance that certainly reminds you of his famous role in Psycho and Ken Russell`s film Crime of Passion. It is also nicely filmed and the strong music score are also the highlights of this oddball little seen movie.

Exactly! When Henry Jekyll transforms into Hyde, his alter ego commits the Ripper murders. A great premise, though the film itself is quite uneven. Some interesting scenes, however, including a couple of homoerotic ones.

The two were possibly related in real life. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde was the hot new play and the talk of London when the actual Ripper murders took place. In fact, the lead actor was considered a suspect by the police for a brief period.

Indeed, that's exactly what it is. And it's awful damn sordid'n'lurid in its gloriously uunbridled decadence, too!
