Can someone explain to me about the tape recoding made of Janet's murder. The killer takes it out and tries to burn it but Ko has it at the end, still tangled, and seems to know its contents, although he couldn't possibly have played it. He says something like "you thought she played it to the end." What am I missing?

The tape wasn't completely destroyed. You could see it being blown out of the ashtray by the wind. Why that happened we'll never know....was it coincidence or was it Du Shen's luck?
But probably he found the tape on the ground and listened to whatever remained of it.
