Any one ever try Dilaudid?

My wife had minor surgery recently and her doctor prescribed Dilaudid for any residual pain. My wife has an aversion to painkillers so she wouldn't take any.

I tried it last weekend (orally of course). While I should preface the fact that I'm a lightweight when it comes to prescription pain medicine I thought Bob's description of the euphoria associated with taking Dilaudid very accurate. A very warm feeling in the back of the neck spreading throughout the entire body followed by a feeling of complete contentness. The feeling lasted about 12 hours into early the next morning. I guess it lasted so long being it was my "cherry high".

Has any one else ever tried it?

Yeah I was an opiate addict among other things...In my later experience I didn't think it had the legs other opiates do (length of high) though I was only an occasional IV user as insane as that sounds.

I'd think hydromorphone (the active drug in dilaudid) would be overall similar in effect to other strong opiates like oxycodone, morphine or heroin. While it is absolutely active taken orally/insufflated, many opiate users hold the opinion that when IV'd it is more euphoric than other narcotics. Bob and company seem to feel this way as well.

It's fun. This movie definitely helped popularize it in certain circles. I know lots of people that think it's THE high -- was fentanyl around at the time, though?

Naw, Fentanyl was only given in hospitals if at all at that time. Naw there is a pill, a lollypop, and a patch. The 10mg/100mcg per hour is by far the strongest, and the most deadly. Fentanyl is dangerous in less you have a very high tolerance.
And if you take it with 1 or 2 other things, your dead.

I take it legit for a severe connective tissue disease...ill be in pain tell I die. Dilaudid puts me out man, its definitely euphoric, IV and its 10x better than Morphine from when Ive been in the hospital...its too sedating for me to function like I want though...Oxycodone and Oxymorphone are wayyy better for me...Oxycodone gives me energy and it is more euphoric and energetic when taken in a pill...not like you just got hit with the dope train LOL. Its excellent for severe pain though like when my pains really bad the Dilaudid pretty much stops everything but I end up falling asleep...been on a couple of opioids...they get boring after a while, trust me you don't want to have to rely on them in this age with all the scrutiny and you definitely don't want some crazy dope fiend addiction to them either. Tolerance is a bitch too..

No, but my friend does it as much as he can. He says it's great for pain.

I did some liquid morphine that I inherited from my late Mother and her cancer. That teaspoon made me feel so weird and sick that I will NEVER do that again. I'm lucky I didn't die from that. I wanted to die from the way that junk made me feel. Do me and yourself a favor, get off the damn drugs. It WILL kill you, or surly make you want to kill yourself.

Lol, classic "I had this one experience therefore I now know all there is to know!" response. No offense but this is very ignorant. It won't necessarily kill you, in fact the prohibition of the drug itself could be more damaging in the end.

I'd smoked the occasional weed and drank quite a bit when I first entered high school, but when I got really sick with my autoimmune disease and landed in hospital was my first stint with opiates.

Opiates/Narcotics are an entirely different ballgame to depressants. I was in severe discomfort, so I needed it, but I soon began watching the clock to see when my 3 hours were up and I could ring the nurse to come put a shot of dilaudid in my neck. 1 mg just about did it for me, but the blessed (foolish) Doctor once prescribed me 2 mg while I was there. Not very smart on her part, but I was happy enough for it.

As my condition worsened, I moved on to Fentanyl, which was even better. I had that stuff going from a drip 24/7. When they took me off it, I watched in sorrow as the nurse poured a whole gallon of the stuff down the drain. What a waste.

I now dream about it from time to time, but I can get by on my Hydrocodone pills, pop a couple and then have a nice buzz going for a few hours.

It's best to not be dependant on that stuff really, it's all about self control. Although when I become an old man, hit my 70s and 80s, I'm definitely searching out the painkillers for some good old times. Something to look forward to. Heroin baby.

There's an understatement.

My grandmother was sick with cancer and eventually on hospice. After she died, I got in there and took everything. I got about 8 Dilaudid pills. That stuff is the best! Its a pharmaceutical version of very strong heroin, WAY better than morphine they give you in the hospital.

Thankfully there were only 8 pills...
