One of the great films, a true work of art

I put Dr. Caligari in my top ten all time, its an amazing film, and more than that it does aspire to a work of fine art. The sets themselves are amazing, completely inspiring and paying hommage to the original. The acting is sharp as a tack right on the money and the dialog is...well you can't get much better.

Hats off to Sayadian, cast and crew for delivering one of the landmark works of the last 30 years. Oh yeah, the soundtrack kicks ass too!

Agreed!! This is truly a great and underrated film. I have seen it several times, and after each viewing I find something new...and also have more questions!

Sayadian is one of my favorite directors. Hope to see more from him sometime soon, or at least a legit DVD of this one!!!

If you like this film, you should try checking out NIGHTDREAMS, the director's earlier film (but only as producer and writer). It introduces "Mrs. Van Houten" with a similar storyline as this film, and while it's an adult film, is an incredible viewing experience filled with striking visuals, a unique look at human sexuality and its psychological impact on people, and a go-for-broke performance by Dorothy LeMay as the ORIGINAL Mrs. Van Houten.

Heh...seen that one, and noticed the similarites!!!

Gotta love the Cream of Wheat box!!!!

I discovered Rinse Dream's (aka Stephen Saydian's) work during college. While I like other directors more...for some reason i think of his the MOST. Something really haunting about his mix of avant-guarde, porn, jazz music, beat culture and comedy.

Wish he got more recognition...or at least made some new movies!!
