Do the Right Thing, again, in Ferguson.

F you Spike Lee!

I graduated from the college of the streets, I gotta Phd in how to make ends meet.

I've heard mix stories regarding Michael Brown death in Ferguson.

reply

Why are you cursing at Spike Lee?

My first thought was "Ferguson!". Kind of eerie, actually.
We didn't learn anything from this great movie :(

reply

Because with this movie, Spike Lee created an image - an irresponsible image of racial hatred in modern day America. That if a man is assaulted, or killed by the police, it's perfectly rational to riot, loot, and destroy your city. It happened shortly after this pile of dung was released (the LA riots), and now Ferguson

Spike Lee hardly invented the concept that you credit to him. The Harlem Riot (1964) and the Watts Riots (1965) both were instigated by someone being assaulted or killed by police. For other examples see the 1980 Miami riots, the 1973 riots in Queens, the 1967 and 1987 riots in Tampa, Florida, and the 1943 Harlem riots.

Blaming Spike Lee for Ferguson is silly.

reply

Wrong. You didn't get the movie. Or rather have a different interpretation. Read Roger Ebert's review. He puts it in better words that I could:

Also your opinion of the film itself is wrong

It is often listed among the greatest films of all time. In 1999, it was deemed to be "culturally significant" by the U.S. Library of Congress, and was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry, one of just five films to have this honor in their first year of eligibility.

I've read the review. F Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel. Giving this trash such a raving review made people think that it's a good movie. The movie is crap!

reply

Ok, I've realized that I'm talking to an idiot. Go watch Transformers. It's a movie with white people and has a plot that you can understand.

reply

Okay, I'm an idiot because I don't like this trash! I guess you don't believe that a person is entitled to their own opinion. Just what I'd expect from a Spike Lee fan.

You sound like Martin Lawrence's character in Do The Right Thing.

reply

I hate Spike Lee.

It's strange that you can't see how he clearly condemns the riot... also the movie obviously admits that the black side started all the tension with Sal!

reply

No, I can't see how he clearly condemns the riot. He starts a riot against his own place of employment, and then has the nerve to come back the next day and ask for his pay. How is that "clearly" condemning the riot?

Well said.
