I rather liked this movie. I found it powerful, hard-hitting, and emotional. Not only do you feel bad for Teddy (the little boy who's keeping the secret) and his parents (who can't believe trusted friends would molest their child), but the way Sandy (Teddy's older brother) admits that the same thing happened to him ten years prior---wonderfully done. It's just too bad Stephen Dorf didn't get many other roles when he was younger. People definitely missed out.
Jack drinks jack, Jack drinks jack. Jack's got fans. Catch ya on the flip side.
I agree. It leaves an impression; I never forgot it from when I first saw it as a kid! It scared the wits out of me! People, sadly, are more 'used' to evil people now but when stories like these came out...people could scarcely comprehend them. This story was fictional, but similar stories emerged around this time. Everyone was used to evil having an 'evil' face. But much evil wears an innocent face. If nothing else, this film helped show that.
I first saw Stephen Dorff act in this movie. I never really forgot his haunting performance. When he reemerged years later, I was glad to see him working again. While he is decent as an adult actor, he truly shined as a child actor I agree.
"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus." "Didn't he discover America?" "Penfold, shush."
Those "similar stories" turned out to be hysteria-driven fabrications that destroyed dozens of innocent lives & undoubtedly scarred the children involved for life by making them believe the false fantastic accusations. That this film was ever made is frightening testimony to the madness of the Satanic sex abuse frenzy of the 1980s -- none of which ever happened -- that it was acclaimed at the time is downright horrific.
