Snyder did nothing wrong.

Followed orders from superiors unwilling to listen to him, the old dude backed into him when he knew Snyder was waving around a Co2 pike, the hair style with a man attached died because everyone else was too busy screwing around the same object (A one person job) to listen to him give warning. Add to that the clear stress he was feeling as a result of over work and being pushed passed his allotted time on the base, everything pinned on him is a result of others scapegoating.

Technically you're right but in real reality he did a few things wrong. Even though he made himself pretty clear with the doc he should have said "Get me out now, i'm not *beep* around, i need out now." His pride wouldn't allow it. He also should have asked or accepted the help offered when dealing with securing the missiles. He didn't because his pride wouldn't allow it. The rest i don't really blame him for, he was terrified to the core, it's the Navys fault for not psych checking him well enough to figure out how badly he'd cope with long term enclosure. It made him a d*ck, but not technically wrong.

Nope. He's an archetypical screwup. He'll claim to know how to do something rather than admit that he doesn't (missiles, shotgun, etc.). When in doubt, instead of checking with the person who gave him the task to ensure he's about to do the right thing, he asks for someone else's interpretation (missiles) and screws up. Nothing's ever his fault. I've worked with people just like this guy. They're poison to an organization.

I know exactly what you mean... I live in a town of people like that...

BUT... It was a lot like what Michael Biehn's character went through in "The Abyss", his mind wasn't right... Mel Ferrer even pleaded with the doctor to 'relieve him from duty' and get him back to the surface... he knew something was wrong with him...

... but you're absolutely right about people who 'can't admit they don't know something'... I hate people like that.
