Great musical score

The action material is a bit derivaive of Goldsmith, but the main theme heard over opening and closing titles is just BEAUTIFUL. Great work from Manfredini, who has always been hit-or-miss for me. I'm a proud papa of the Intrada CD, which has become ridiculously rare and expensive today. Anyone have any thoguhts on the score?

Yeah, after watching the credits, I was surprised to see Arlon Ober listed as one of the orchestrators. In case you're not a fan of any cartoons, he was half of the composing team that did all that wonderful stuff for the cartoon Robotech back in '86. That was a nice surprise. The score was great and at times sounded almost like a documentary underscore from Public Television! It was still fantastic. The only sad thing is the horrible DVD transfer which seems like it was made almost straight from tape and if you watch the credits at the end to listen to the score you can hear it warbling badly as if the VHS player they were transferring from had some stability problems. Sad, really as the score deserved better.

I've liked this movie since I first saw it as a teen on VHS.

I love the score as well, particularly the closing theme.

I didn't know there was a soundtrack of this film released! Obviously it's out of print and would be impossible to find, but if anyone who has it is willing to share, or let me know where to get it, please PM me!

I did not know about Ober's involvement here, but I ADORE the soundtrack for Robotech... while I love the original Macross and prefer it to the (admittedly nostalgic, since I grew up with it!) re-edited Robotech version, I find it hard to watch because I so much prefer Robotech's music score!

There is a member on here named carpathianwolff who thinks the score sucks. Funny how you always have someone who hates something that another person loves.
