Was this shown at cinemas?

Does anyone know if this got a theatrical release or if it just snuck onto the rental market?

A friend and I stumbled across these movies in his families video store. There's five or six of them, though we only saw the first four. They, along with the movie 'Barbarian Queen' and probably a few others were made for the straight to video market.

If you watch them all (and I don't recomend it without the aid of sarcastic robots) they reuse scenes from each other. One scene in particular where the pig-faced, ork-looking, warrior is at a feast and has a touching moment with the head of the roast pig entre' is in every one of them.

Deathstalker and the Warriors From Hell is the third installment of the series. Deathstalker 2 was the best movie of the lot, but that's not really saying much.

I'm Ford W. Maverick and I'll see you in hell.

Ford Maverick, there are only four Deathstalker movies not five or six, however there is a Barbarian Queen 2. Thats what I loved about the old family video stores from the 80s, they had all this odd stuff that no video store would ever carry now.

Oh? I thought they did more of them. I guess they just kind of all ran together for me. I mean, they were crap, but they were really great crap. :D

Have to agree. The local video store in my area closed down about ten years ago. I used to love perusing the horror aisle while my parents/brothers were looking for a movie to rent from the new releases section. I remember renting stuff like Death Ship(1980), Alien Predators(1987), Gorath, etc.

I loved that about video stores too. Now thanks to Blockbuster, they no longer exist.

Not as far as I know, I only ever saw it for rent.

No, when you first go to the webpage here at imdb, the "V" after the year means it was straight to video.

Ten, nine, eight, and all that!

Does that mean DS1 and DS4 were released in theaters? Those two don't have the "V" after the name . . .

reply

Only the first 'Deathstalker' was shown theatrically; the rest are direct to video.
