For many years I had only seen the MST3K version. It's one of my favorite episodes. Because of that I did eventually give the original version a watch. It doesn't hold the replay value of the MST3K version. As for comparing it with DEADLY WEAPON, I'm not sure. If I said yes it would mainly due to my nostalgia of the MST3K version. Neither film is that great, and are different interpretations of a similar idea.
