Interesting Movie

I remember watching this movie and I've found it very interesting. Don Johnson plays this cop who is down on his luck and every one seems to give him a hard time especially William Forsythe's character which I couldn't stand and Bob Balaban's character also. He was divorced from his wife and I found it rather cold when she wouldn't at least let him see and bring his kids their Christmas presents when he called and he was always drowning out his frustrations by drinking. The only person that did understand him was Tim Reid's character because he acted really down to earth. I also liked the scene where he saw this psychiatrist which by the way, I don't even know how he even became one because he needed cancelling himself. In this scene, he sees this psychiatrist, they introduce themselves and just because DJ's character grinned he wanted him to tell him what was so funny. Being polite, he wasn't going to tell him so he just asked if they could just drop it. That psychiatrist kept going on and on until he finally told him that he looked like Woody Allen and the funniest thing about it is that he defintitely did. The man got insulted which was very unprofessional especially when he tried to force DJ to tell him why he was laughing but DJ's character got back at him.

The psychiatrist was played by Michael Jeter. Must have been one of his earlier
motion picture roles. He played the uptight shrink very well. I have watched my taped off version of this movie over and over. It is not a great film, but it is one of those that you just seem to come back to over and over. The DVD is in the bargain bin at the local Wally-world now for 5.50. A steal for a very decent
action flick.

The reason i like this movie is because of Don Johnson's unusually great performance, and John Frankenhiemer's direction. That man really knows where to put a camera. And the action scenes had alot more realism than other movies of this kind.

You nailed the same reasons why I really like this film. Don Johnson really surprised me with his acting in it. I also think that because it didn't have a giant budget it helped that the director used the locations to help the scenes just by his camera placement. Great job by the DP too. (If you haven't seen this movie, give it a chance.)

I agree with mars1775. the movie was very good and well directed but it was johnsons excellent performance and screen charisma that really ratcheted it up a notch. he was very popular at the time of it's release so I'm surprised this was such a flop. despite that i hope the people involved are proud of it because it is enjoyable each time I watch it.

With Frankenheimer in the helm, Johnson was good and the chucking up scene was hilarious!

Its that man again!!

The DVD is a bargain because it's been massacred to the usual nasty full screen pan-scan. It's good sign, though, that even America refuses to pay any more than this for such movie murder. Let's hope for a decent release soon, the film deserves it!

Gentlemen, you can't FIGHT here, this is a War Room!

I noticed that as well. The doctor was very insistent that Beck him what was so funny, and then when he forces Beck to tell him, he hammers Beck for it. Most unfair.

Don Johnson did his best work here. Plus, it had the nice, workman-like directing from John F., and finally a Tim Brown sighting.

Last but not least, there's the dope-a$$ed '80s jazz-rock fusion score from Gary Chang.

Just pick it up here in Aus for a $1 (It's a widescreen transfer here) and while it's not a great film it has got seem decent scenes (The compound shootout and the
street chase). Don Johnson did some great acting it as well.

Is it worth throwing up on?
