The guilty one? ( spoiler)

At the end of the movie it is revealed that Tate Donovan's character killed the store clerk at the beginning. However, during the murder scene, if you freeze frame, you notice that Frank Military ( Bobby Burns) is actually the actor who does the shooting. A mistake by the production or a last attempt of the brothers to confuse Beck?

through the yrs ive gone over this in my head. no way this can actually be a editing fu%# up. i mean, how could u miss something like this?

the only other explanation that *WOULD HAVE* made sense is if john decided to take the rap for his brother because he thought he could get away w/ it, & because bobby has such a hard life.

but... that would only have worked had we found out about john prior to bobbys death. but, as the movie unfolded, we didnt know about john until beck shot bobby. it was at this point bobby denies he had anything to do w/ the shooting.
it is here when the movie really take a wild turn, when john confesses to the murder.

ok... what we know is that a shooting occurs, beck checks recent parolee's, bobbys name pops up, they chase him around only to find out it was his little brother john?

while this a is a good movie... thats just too much of a stretch.

It was to confuse the audience.

As you say, during the robbery scene you can see that it is in fact Bobby Burns who walks in the store (you dont even need to freeze the frame to see it since it´s pretty obvious) but when you see the killers eyes just before the execution, you see Johns eyes. And it sure as hell sound like Bobbys voice too. So, who did kill the store manager and the cop?

Is it a glitch in the script or is John just telling a lie to protect his brother and get creds for something he really didnt do? Maybe it was all about "I´m just as bad as my brother" ?

Great movie btw.

Find him and kill him. He deserves to die.
He may, but not the way you have in mind.

It was confusing cuz like you say, its obviously Bobby's voice & body but they used John's eyes in the store/cop killing scene. I think the answer is that it was really John the whole time but the filmmakers "cheated" by using Frank Military (Bobby) to throw us all off.
