Wasn't Puck a Little Sprite?

Who played all the other roles in A Midsummer Night's Dream? Members of the basketball team?

Get me a bromide! And put some gin in it!

The only characters we know who appear in that "play" are Neil as Puck (the sprite, or spirit, that causes trouble), and Ginny as Hermia. There is a deleted scene on youtube that shows Knox at the Danburry's house having dinner and during the scene, Chris is talking to Ginny about going out for the play. Other people who auditioned might've been from other schools in the area. It was probably a community theater production, which I have been involved in.

Isn't it a bit of an exaggeration when Neil says that he's got the top role in the play? I mean, Puck is important, but I wouldn't call him the lead.

Flat, drab passion meanders across the screen!

For Neil, it's the top role in life, because he's finally doing what he wants to do, not what his father has planned for him. Chalk it up to unbridled enthusiasm & a feeling of freedom, however short-lived.

Well, Puck is an important character in the play, since he is the one who causes the trouble for the lovers when he puts the juice on the wrong guy. However, it is a big role as compared to some other roles in the show.

He says to his dad it is the main part, more to try to get him to realize he can't just drop out. Let's say he only played the role of Hermia's dad or Philostrate. They don't have a lot of scenes, so if he dropped out there, it wouldn't be as big a thing. But Puck is important to the show.
