How did Charlie and the others know? (spoilers)

There are a dozen little inconsequential things in DPS that leave questions (like where did Knox pick wildflowers when the ground was completely covered with snow), but one thing I've wondered about on a recent viewing is, how did Charlie and the other DPS members learn about Neil so quickly? I'm assuming that that scene was supposed to be just hours after Neil commits suicide.

Is there a deleted scene explaining this? It's not like one of them would have picked up the info on a police scanner ;-)

I'm guessing it's one of those things we're supposed to just accept and not wonder about. I work at a school where we have had to deal with student(s) committing suicide, and it generally takes a day or two for administration to issue a formal statement to the community.

One likely scenario, a studnet overhears a faculty or staff member talking about it.

Anotehr plausible scenario, someone outside the school tells one of the boys about it.

Yeah, it is like the next day they already know about it? I have the feeling maybe it wasn't the next day as we thought but a day or two later that they got the news.
I guess it was to create a better film.

It's one of these things. Sometimes people just know. Often through dreams. It's not supposed to work that way but it can do.
