I read the comments someone left but the movie seemed so realistic, does anyone know if it was based on a TRUE story?

I'm pretty sure it is based on a true story. There is a book by Gene LePere titled "Never Pass This Way Again" that chronicles her imprisonment in Turkey. It's a pretty interesting story as well as a travel warning.
