underrated

this film is so good, i think. it follows the book so well and there is never dull moment. i also liked the way that jeremy irons and his son both starred in this; it gave the film more of a family feel if you get what i mean. i really liked this film and think it is one of the best adaptations of a roald dahl book to have been made so far!

I know! I absolutely adored Jeremy Irons in it, he was so good. He even managed to smile with his eyes! I hope they never do a remake, it's perfect already.

It's really great, hardly anyone knows about it though. It's also said to be the one adaptation of his books that Roald Dahl really loved.

I agree with all the comments here. I caught this film on PBS in America in the early nineties. I was excited that a film adaptation had been made because "Danny" is one of my favorite books. I think it contains one of the best fictional father/son relationships I've ever read. I can't wait for this film to get a DVD release in America.
