I am really amazed that this movie is not in the top 250 at least as 250, It looks like people now adays people dont care about their parents and dont realize the art of film making and the wonders of this movie

I AGREE WITH YOU 1,000 percent, GIOHELL666!!!!!!!!!!! After I watched the movie I checked IMDB and expected to see a vote average above 8.0. Since every aspect of this movie was TOP NOTCH, my only guess is that tear jerkers tend to tone down the enthusiasm that viewers might otherwise express. After watching a movie with a sad ending, voters should wait until they are more composed and able to cast a more objective vote. Mountain Man
I loved this movie. I've always been a huge fan of Jack Lemmon's work and I thought the triad of Lemmon/Danson/Hawke was amazing...you could actually believe these three were grandfather, father and son.
And there was so much love....
I knew I'd like it because of the way I'd loved "Tribute," another Lemmon and estranged son movie. He played that role on Broadway before it was made into a film, and it remains my favorite of all the theatre I have directed.
I agree also! I hadn't heard of this film until I watched it the other night, and I thought it was brilliant. I went to check on IMDB, expecting it to have at least 7 or 8 rating and couldn't believe it was only 5.7!
I second MountainMan, as after watching this awesome movie, I logged in here, expecting at least a 7.5.. but my god ! 5.8 ????? wtf !!! this was undoubtedly one of the top 20 movies I ever saw [with the total count well above 3000]...
then again, who cares guys, we loved this movie and I guess thats what counts..
Jack Lemmon and Ted were just awesome... this movie really moved me, forced me to think about how knowingly or unknowingly we forget our parents amidst of our life in the fast lane...
I voted an 8 for this movie. I watched this a couple of months back on Encore. I hadn't seen it in years but after viewing it realized how it gritty and authentic it was.
I know this is an old thread and of course an old film but one that has stood the test of time. Superb cast, extremely well-acted and directed. I'm a little biased because I'll watch Jack Lemmon in anything, but Dad is an entire box of Kleenex-worthy. Rating should be infinitely higher.
