Movie's title

The reason this film has such a bizarre title is because that's the name of the book it was based on. I was confused when I first got it, but the author explains the meaning of the title. They live in the town "Cold Sassy," which was named for the "Cold Sassafras trees" that used to grow there. Granted-it's still kind of weird, but there is at least a reason for it.
