FINALLY on dvd!

As previously mentioned by poster 't-urden' on this board, this overlooked '80s gem has finally been made officially available on R1 dvd, as part of MGM's "Limited Edition Collection". It's their made-on-demand equivalent of Warner Bros' "Archive collection", which means that yes, it comes on a dvd-r, but rest assured this isn't just a VHS transfer slapped on disc. It's a great looking 16x9 transfer (1.85:1 ratio) from what appears to be a new HD master. The grain structure is healthy and intact (by dvd standards) and though it hasn't received any kind of thorough restoration, the image also appears free of manipulation. For audio we're given a standard Dolby 2.0 mix, which sounds like your average '80s 2.0 mix on dvd, no better or worse. As one would expect, no extras, though the trailer would have been nice. This release also appears to use the original poster art - another nice touch! It can be had through Amazon or ScreenArchives.com.

That's so odd, this movie used to be one of my favorite movies, I watched it alll the time. Well I haven't watched it a little while but last night out of the blue I had a dream about it. I was thinking of watching it and decided to check it out on here and what do you know.. hours ago you posted that it's now on DVD! I must have some sort of sixth sense about this movie. That's how tight me and Cohen and Tate are.

I hate this release for so many reasons but primarily because Eric Red the director was trying to get this released as a 'Special Edition' with extra's and a DVD commentary and a restoration of all of the cut scenes. It would have been awesome.

Naturally, now that this DVD-R has been released, no distributor is going to buy into re-release this movie with all of those glorious extra's.

This release has been given no love. I'll stick with my crappy 80's VHS.

This is great! I saw this movie only once when I was a kid and couldn't forget it since. So nice that it's finally available.
