Abeslutely! It is superb - reminisent of Blood Simple, wouldn't you agree?

If you are a fan of Eric Red's movies (The Hitcher, Near Dark), you'll love this.

Cohen: How old are you kid?
Travis 9
Cohen: 9 huh? How about that (blows own brains out)

reply

Couldn't agree with you more my friend! It is criminal how crap movies can get a triple disc edition with every extra under the sun, when a classic such as this is overlooked. I want to know who I can write to get this released, any ideas?

This movie riminds me of Near Dark, The Terminator and The Hitcher. I just love the fact that it is almost all set in a car but does not feel claustrophobic or anything. Roy Schieder and Adam Baldwin are superb, especially Baldwin, who comes across like the Terminator crossed with Bill Paxton from Near Dark. But Harley Cross steals the show, he plays Travis so perfect.

I would give this film 9/10 because it should have had more action between Baldwin and Schieder at the end, minor quibble..

i totally agree this needs a dvd release!!

i think i'm a banana tree!!! oh dear

I likewise concur. This unjustly forgotten B-movie suspense thriller is eminently worthy of a DVD release. Roy Scheider and Adam Baldwin are excellent in it as a pair of radically contrasting hitmen. Ditto the remarkable Harley Cross as the shrewd little boy they abduct. It's a very potent and gripping film which really packs a strong, lingering punch.

Have ordered it on VHS just a few moments ago, can't wait to see it again.. Hope they release it on DVD, it is a shame.

now I'm readng his reviews that you have kindly told me. Thanks again!

reply

thats really good news!!
I have been waiting for years for the dvd, so lets pray it WILL be out soon.

reply

I also agree. I would love to see this film out on DVD. It's one of many Roy Scheider films that still need to be put out on DVD. Still of the Night, The Fourth War, Night Game, Last Embrace to name a few others.

reply

I haven't seen this movie in over 15 years but I really hope it comes out to DVD soon. It's a shame that it wasn't released on DVD sooner so that more people could have seen another good role that Roy brought to the screen before he passed on.

Thanks for constantly plugging this one Woody. After your original recommendation a while back, I've been on the look out for it and just found a copy over the weekend. Count me in as a newly added fan to this over-looked gem.

just watched it last night and was pleasantly surprised by this rough and terribly lean thriller by Eric Red. a dvd release would be great!

I'm another fan of this tight and tense thriller. Victor Kemper's cinematography is beautiful (he was the DP on Dog Day Afternoon) and oh how much more beautiful it would certainly look on DVD. I have an old VHS, but I'd buy a DVD today if only it was available, someone get to work on doing this film justice.... Please.

reply

Haven't seen this since it's original VHS release...
And it still stands out as an awesome flick.
It's criminal that this isn't out on dvd.
I'd buy it in a second.

Maybe all that's needed is someone to do a remake to stir interest in the original? Wouldn't it be cool if Baldwin came back, only as Cohen this time?
