I mean, Alex and Corinne are UNDRESSING each other in the middle of the living room, and it's only PG? And Miranda crawls into bed with Alex in the middle of the night? AND Corinne and Philip aren't exactly secretive about having sex... Does that seem a little wierd to anybody else??
Uh, no. You have to remember the time it was released. It was not the squeaky-clean, over-protective environment of today. It was just a year after Big (which had the f-word, obvious sex, arguably statuatory rape, was rated PG and was aimed at children).
In the 80s, this was PG. In the 60s, it would have been G. Today, it would be less classy and PG-13.
I would have to agree. Your shock at some of the events in this film might make sense if the film had been released in 1969, but not 1989. And compared to some of the stuff on film today, this is like a Disney film.
i actually disagree many movies would be rated with a lower rating if they were released today, when harry met sally is one that really comes to mind, were it to come out today i have no doubt it would be pg-13
