and bootleg that 157 min. version Ferrara has. There's no market for a DVD re-release but I'd love to see a cut that Ferrara is proud of. As it is it's beautifully shot, with a handful of really cool moments, but it's just muddled as hell. I'm wondering if the extra hour helps it that much.
shareI saw this 157 minute version, and from what I can tell it doesn't help. The quality was terrible, this was probably a first rough cut according to the editor that was there. There was a time code, no sound effects, and no music soundtrack. It was long, in desperate need of some serious editing, and not exactly exciting. There were a couple scenes that were supposedly cut or edited that I can see would have made the film marginally better, but since this was far from a finished director's cut, seeing it is purely for education purposes, not to see an amazing version of this film.
