36 years on!

This is one of the most disturbing movies I have ever watched - I wince when I see it on TV schedules but I can't help but see it again. I was 19 when Saigon fell and quite honestly totally bored by the Vietnam news coverage then.
De Palma captures the essence of putting ordinary 19 year old boys in a totally alien (war) situation - and see what happens - Lord of the Flies? Penn and Fox could have been any of of brothers or sons. Heros for being there - casualties of being there.

36 years on and I still feel for those 19 year olds. It just so happens my son is now 19 and we live in Vietnam. Thank goodness he's here - and not in Iraq.
