After I saw this movie. Like hated hated him. That just shows how great an actor he is. I never warmed up to him again not even in I am Sam. Finally I got over my fear of him in Milk. I also think MJ F was great in this movie.

Yep Sean Penn did a great job of making his character absolutely hateable (as did anyone who went into the hootch and raped/beat-up that poor Vietnamese girl). Worthy performances all around under Brian De Palma's direction. Also love seeing the film sets in Kanchanaburi, Phang Nga, etc. in late-80's Thailand now my resident country. Despite the horrible things portrayed in this movie it's a beautiful area landscape people and all these days. But I still can't help but want to blow away the Penn character when watching this movie. Good boocoo bad ass job Sean.
shareSean Penn is an abuser who terrorized his first wife (maybe you've heard of her: Madonna) leaving her tied up in the basement so he he could get back to his coke snorting. He has no business walking the streets freely let along being in movies. His endless defence of South American dictators pretty much sums up his moral charactor... or rather the complete lack thereof.
shareErikkson is brave and is a nice guy in the movie. I like MJF in this movie , if not rape scene I would suggest my female friends to watch together. I watched this movie yes it's great but sadly it's starred by Sean Penn or else I would suggest MJF fans to watch, if.....
without rape scene and MJF got more and more acting time on this movie I would suggest this one for MJF fan. >_<
I read seans not too nice in his personal life either..
